Languages

The core language taught at key stage 2 is Spanish.

We believe that starting to learn a foreign language early in life helps to lay the foundations for the further study of languages, equipping pupils for life in the workplace and for foreign travel. Learning a foreign language stimulates curiosity and deepens understanding of the world, thus enabling our pupils to become global citizens and develop an appreciation of the similarities and differences between English and Spanish culture and language.

Spanish encourages self-expression; our pupils are encouraged to express themselves in Spanish and to understand and respond to Spanish, both in their speech and in their writing.

The learning of a language instils confidence and is a valuable life skill.
